Access Statement

Location
The Malta Experience is aptly located within the capital city Valletta. Situated along the ring road of the city adjacent to Fort St. Elmo and opposite the monumental building the ‘Mediterranean Conference Centre’ formerly known as the ‘Sacra Infermeria’ (the hospital of the Knight’s of St. John).

Venue
The premises combine an audio-visual show as the core product and the support services of a cafeteria and souvenir shop.

Show
The auditorium is located at lower ground level having a capacity of 275 seats each equipped with a multi-lingual interpretation system from a choice of 15 narrations. The narration is aired through headphones whilst the soundtrack is channeled via a sound-surround system in the auditorium.

Shop
Located at lower ground level, the souvenir shop offers a wide choice of items ideal for gifts and memento of one’s visit. Normal access to the shop is from the external terrace on ground floor by way of semi-circular staircase, (25 stairs) leading onto a historical tunnel (below ground) of approximately 50 meters.

Cafeteria
This is the customers’ first entry point from the main (road) entrance leading onto an external terrace. The cafeteria comprises a seated indoor area which can accommodate up to 28 covers. The external ter- race, whilst commanding magnificent views of Malta’s Grand Harbour, is sectioned in two areas. The side terrace is south facing and can accommodate up to 30 covers. The main terrace leading from the main entrance can accommodate up to 70 covers.

Toilets
Restroom facilities are located at both ground and lower ground level. Two independent toilets are available at ground level for each gender. Facilities available at lower ground level within the souvenir shop area. The entrance to the toilets is independent by gender. The ladies area accommodates three cubicles and a common hand-wash area. The male section combines two urinals and two toilet cubicles. Hand-was area is common. All facilities are equipped with hot/cold water. Both female restrooms are equipped with nappy-changing facility.

Disabled and Wheelchair Accessibility
The entire area is accessible for wheelchair mobility. There is a ramp positioned at the main entrance leading onto the external terrace. Access to the lower level is available by elevator found via the entrance to the ‘Mediterranean Conference Centre’. Once again, access within the ‘Mediterranean Conference Centre’ is equipped with ramps.

Access to the auditorium is available using the side (theatre) entrance. Customers are provided with a head-phone which connects using the seats in the first row (from above). The theatre can accommodate up to 5 wheelchairs simultaneously.

Hard of hearing
Customers are provided with a ‘loop’ system that rests on the ear sending pulse signal to the hearing aid set. Alternatively, some hearing aids do not require such attachment and narration may be listened to in the normal manner.

Transport
All public transport routes end at the City’s bus terminus. Customers have different options to reach the establishment. On foot down the main thoroughfare which is approximately 1.2 km in gradual descent. By bus route 98 and 198 which departs from the terminus every 30 minutes passing on the ring road. Customers are to disembark on the bus stop outside Fort St. Elmo which brings you to within 100 meters of the establishment. Electric cabs points are found in and around the city. There is also a stand outside the establishment.

Visiting by taxi is convenient with drop-off point outside the main entrance. It is also possible to enter the city via ferry boat departing from the Sliema Strand. Boat ride is approximately 15 minutes berthing at M’Xett quay which is approximately 1 km away from the establishment. You can take a scenic walk by the ring road, alternatively through the city centre.

For those visiting by hired vehicles, parking is also possible around the ring-road although this is always very limited on weekdays due to commercial commuting. Valletta operates an access vehicular payment system, yet parking on the ring road is as yet complimentary!

Safety
The premises are compliant with fire safety procedure. Fire extinguishers
(foam / CO2) are positioned around the site including the auditorium which includes a fire alarm system.

The auditorium has an emergency exit in addition to the main entrance. Theatre doors are compliant with fire safety requirements. A meeting point for emergency exit of the building is located outside the establishment by the main entrance.

Lighting is powered by direct current (technical) and emergency lighting fitted throughout the premises. The auditorium and shop areas are equipped to use alternate power supply through use of a generator.

There is a site plan located on the terrace by the main entrance (under constrution). The premises are well posted to direct customers around the site.

Payment Details:
All bookings are to be paid for in full directly upon reservation

Cancellations & Refunds:
Bookings may be cancelled and fully refunded up to 1 day prior to show date.
For any cancellations thereafter, a 100% cancellation fee is to apply.

Other conditions:
1. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Audio Visual show may be delayed by 15 minutes at certain show times.
2. The Malta Experience reserves the right to refuse entry to an individual not property dressed or under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
3. No bottles, cans, containers or food/drink may be brought inside the theatre.
4. No animals are allowed in the theatre except service animals.
5. Any item considered by security staff to be a potential hazard is to be prohibited and may be confiscated and forfeited. Any person failing to immediately comply with any instructions from security or other persons acting for The Malta Experience may be summarily ejected without right or refund.
